FOR THOSE OF YOU THAT REMEMBER: CARTOONS!

DO YOU REMEMBER THE TIME WHEN KIDS DID NOT HAVE TO WATCH NICKELODIAN, THE CARTOON NETWORK OR THE DISNEY CHANNEL TO WATCH TELEVISION? WHEN I WAS YOUNG THERE WAS A PLACE AND A TIME FOR KIDS TO WATCH TELEVISION: SATURDAY MORNING ON ONE OF THE NETWORK CHANNELS. AND IF YOU WERE LUCKY SUNDAY MORNING TOO. BOY THE TIMES HAVE CHANGED. IT'S LIKE ONCE THE SUITS STARTED TO SEE THAT THERE WAS A TWEEN MARKET, THEY WENT ALL OUT. THEY STARTED TO MAKE LIVE PROGRAMMING FOR KIDS, CATERED NETWORKS FOR KIDS AND THEN THEY WENT AND DID THE FOUL SHIT: THEY GAVE THE TWEENS THE OLSEN TWINS. CHILDREN WERE NO LONGER JUST TO BE SERVED DOLLS, CARTOONS AND SUGARY SNACKS. NOW THEY HAD TO GET THE DVD, SEE THE MOVIE AND GET THE LUNCHBOX AND BOOKBAG. I MAY BE NAIVE BUT I THINK THAT KIDS WERE WAY MORE INNOCENT WHEN I WAS A KID DUE TO THE FACT THAT THEY WERE WATCHING INNOCENT SHIT. NOW, THEY SEE ALL KINDS OF SHIT; SEX, MURDER AND DRUG USE. AND THAT'S JUST THE FIRST FIVE MINUTES OF THE SPONGE BOB SQUARE PANTS MOVIE. SO HERE IS THE FIRST INSTALLMENT OF TAKING IT BACK TO THE OLD DAYS BEFORE RAVEN SYMONE, MOLLY CYRUS AND THE DUFF GIRLS. I HOPE YOU ENJOY. BY THE WAY I HAVE GOT TO GIVE CREDIT WHERE CREDIT IS DUE: I TOTALLY STOLE THIS IDEA FROM A CAT NAMED ILLSEED THAT WRITES ON THE XXL WEBSITE. HERE''S ONE OF MY FAVORITES: JEM I'LL BE BACK WITH THEM EVERY NOW AND THEN

I wanted to be Jem/Jerricka when I was younger! Oh thank you for taking me back! I have a newfound respect for the man whom can admit he was a Jem fan {but then again, I've seen that same man perform Annie when he was a child, also}.

find some Thundarr the Barbarian fool! I never watched Jem, but I had to get up really early to catch Thundarr!

I still go back to all of these. I remember watching Jem when it wasn't unheard of to have a portable black and white- the one that looks like an old computer.
