MF Doom, Jay Dilla, and Ghostface were working on the 'Dilla Ghost Doom' album until Dilla's untimely death. Here is a sampling of what could have been.
Sniper Elite & Murder Goons (Bonus) - Dilla Ghost Doom
Dilla spliced two very dope but very different beats together allowing Doom and Ghost to shine on tracks suited to their unique styles. Ghost's rapid fire, in the pocket rhyme is dope, but Doom's now classic slow flow is such a masterpiece of minimalism that it renders Ghost's verse irrelevant, almost to the point of annoying. I find myself rewinding the track as soon as Doom's verse ends, foregoing what otherwise would be a killer Ghost track - and I'm a Ghostface fanatic. This is the second time Doom and Ghost have shared the same track ('the mask' - Danger Doom album) and Doom continues to make Ghost look average; a nearly impossible feat.
Considering that Doom is likely the most talented mc of all time and Dilla is arguably hip hop's most revered producer, the fact that this album was not finished is one of history's great tragedies. Hyperbolic yes, but true.
