The mta, the metropolitan transit authority is thinking about raising their subway and bus fares to three dollars in the next six months. I don't understand it. why would they be raising the fare when they just raised it? how have they lost this much money since the last fare? the mta must want me to get a car because i can't believe that i will be paying three dollars to go to the same places that i have been going to since the 1st grade. It doesn't make any sense to me at all. Now if there was a lapdance or some bootyshaking involved I would be more willing to pay three bucks. When i pay three bucks will there be train stops to titty island or still to the same coney island? for three dollars can i get a seat next to someone that doesn't try to squeeze their fat ass next in the way too small space next to me? is the three dollars that they want me to pay going to buy me the privilege of riding in the no panhandling subway car? Can i get for my three dollars a train not infested with bum smell? MTA GET YOUR SHIT TOGETHER OR ELSE I WILL BE FORCED TO BUY A CAR AND LIVE HOW MOST OTHER AMERICANS LIVE - ON THE ROAD and free!

see those last sentences captured it for me. how can this not push those who have the means to go and buy a car? what happened to the little 15-25 cent baby steps to increase it to trick us that it was not a big deal?
$3? Hell no.
For $3 I expect unlimited rides/transfers for two hours, a slice of pepperoni pizza and a shoulder rub on the platform.
$3??? Remember that surplus a few years ago when the mta cut fares down to $1 on the weekends leading up to Christmas.
Miss Bhavens, be careful what you wish for. I have been the unfortunate recipient of a 'rub' on the bus. Not nice.
