Torture circa 1957

So it turns out that our Guantánamo Bay interrogation techniques come from China! Is nothing American made anymore?

These techniques come from a 1957 United States Air Force study of
"Chinese Communist techniques used during the Korean War to obtain confessions, many of them false, from American prisoners."
There is sense of USA pride in the fact that our military men (there were little to no women in the Korean War, certainly none in combat - a fun tradition that continues to this day!) kept silent on the truth, but that really isn't the point.

Point 1: if we know that these "techniques" lead to false confessions, then WHY ARE WE USING THEM?

Point 2: since the federal government (namely the Bush Administration and the Justice Department) say that these "techniques" are not illegal or bad, then obviously it wasn't bad for our American troops during the Korean War! Do you think our POWs would agree with that assessment?

Damn! Verbatim copying from China?! At least add a few words to make it look good (everyone knows that old college English 101 trick). Then again, there are only but so many ways to make someone talk...especially if you need them to make up stuff.

So Communism is only good if we're using its tactics to torture our own? If it weren't for Obama about to win this election, America could kiss my ass right about now.
