Hip - Hop died the other day and no one noticed...

Contrary to popular belief Hip Hop wasn't dead. Despite the title of Nas' album (which really wasn't that good) and what most ghetto geeks like myself were saying, Hip - Hop wasn't dead. It was just on life - support. Now don't get me wrong it wasn't helathy but it just wasn't dead. But the other day when I flipped on B.E.T. at 5 pm and realized that Smart Guy, a show that no one watched when it was on for it's first run, was on and Rap City wasn't I was pissed.

When you can't catch hip hop videos on national television, that just says grim reaper. Don't tell me about 106 and park I don't want to watch not one r and b video. i want rap. for an hour at least. What the fuck?

It started with the shiny suits but then when Eminem won an Academy Award for 8 mile I knew it was going to a place that it couldn't come back from. While I was hopeful when the South took control of the culture that it would go places shiny suits couldn't come to, all i got was a little outkast and a lot of crunk. I never liked gold teeth when i lived in new york so damned if i want to look at a guy with gold teeth rapping about anything for too long. Well it's officially dead. I loved you hip hop, but now it's time for me to just love the shit that i like.

I don't think Hip Hop is dead, Roc. It's just reborn...or in drag. The young kids have taken over our beloved Hip Hop and have given birth to marble-mouths like Lil' Wayne! With the gold teeth...well, that's the drag (not truly what it is on the outside). So yes, you're strategy is a good one...love what you like.
