RANDOM BLOGGING - I HATE GHETTO STORE POLICIES THAT INFRINGE ON YOUR DIGNITY

I went to paragon today. Not the paragon on 18th street and Broadway that sells high - end sporting goods but the paragon in Harlem that sells real cheap shit to buy a frying pan (probably my first mistake). To make a long story short I was coming from the gym (moral victory for me) and I had my gym bag with me. The lady (manager they say) asked me to check my gym bag. I hate this policy. It is so degrading. It is telling me that since the owners don't know that I will steal, they assume that I will so they ask for my bag. What? Are they kidding me? I am giving you money why would I steal from this funky slumdog millionaire staffed piece of shit store. I mean when I go to Tiffanys I can have my gym bag. They have toilet paper worth way more than most of the shit in there. Stores only do that check bag shit to minorities. It's degrading and I am sick of it. How about you?

I agree. It is degrading. this is the unfortunate thing about supporting local businesses where we live. even if it is a chain store, it's going to be like this. so in order to get treated like a person and not a criminal, you have to go downtown. Mentally, it's not worth feeling like shit, especially when you are forking over your damn money.

I am as white as can be and I am told to leave my bags at the door at store's with that policy too. They don't ever make exceptions for white girl me, even when I have argued that the bag is my pocketbook. I try to take Donna's point of view (above). Anyway, I can't know how you feel, just wanted to share my experiences.
