Watch The Throne - New Single OTIS

At first one might think that OTIS, the name of the first single ( let's not count H.A.M shall we) from Kanye West (Ye) and Jay - Z's (J) vanity project, Watch The Throne is a horrible name. Why name it that? But after listening to the track you realize that the title comes from the fact that the production is HEAVILY jacked from the song "Try a Little Tenderness" by Otis Redding (RIP). Already Ye and J with a name title succeed in making their audience feel stupid and beneath them. Not a good way to start a relationship fellas. In reality, unless this album sounds like a combination of the best of College Dropout, The Blueprint, The Black Album and Graduation while taking the risks of 808's and Heartbreaks, Kingdom Come with the polish of My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy and the soul of The American Gangster album all while selling a gazillion albums it won't be successful. This by all measures is a Super Album. Two of the biggest stars in the game, not just today but of all - time are collaborating. Not just on a couple of songs but a full length album. There is no way that there won't be a letdown. This isn't just a record by Rick Ross, Drake and Lil Wayne on some Lex Luger throway beat for a random mixtape but a conscious effort at pushing the boundaries of the pop and hip hop. Even their shoulders are not that wide to carry all that weight. Give Ye and J credit for trying, but I can't see where they either can begin to match or reach the expectations they set for their project. As a Stan fan I hope I am wrong but I have a feeling that through no fault of their own this project was doomed from the beginning.
Here is a link to the track and the track listing of the album.

Nas talks about Kelis

In this clip that I first saw on my favorite Asian's Hip Hop site Missinfo.com Nas speaks to British DJ Tim Westwood. He speaks as much as he can about his divorce with Kelis. He also casually mentions that he wants more children but that means he needs to make more money. I wonder why he said that? Looking at this clip makes me realize how much Nas has gone through since he's been in the game. Baby mommas, divorces, rap beefs, bad albums, looking high all the time, etc, etc,. You have to be built pretty tough to be in this media spotlight just for one minute. Nas has been in it for 20 years. (Damn). Peace to my brother Nas. I want him to make another classic album. In another clip Nas says that Kanye may help him on something. As long as it is not any of that soft shit then it's all good.

no kanye!

This picture lets me know that Kanye West knows nothing about timing. He or some photographer releases a photo of him holding a naked Lady Gaga. Wow!

Really?

I still believe that some of Myers' bits have a tinge of racism in them but this really segment was balanced. I am still trying to understand why Phelps never got the kind that Vick got. Oh yeah now I know, Phelps is white, an Olympian and was a guest on the show!. But this bit was funny and Myers is funny. Check it out.

Get Off His Dick!

Dude- Kanye was rude at The VMA's but jeez LOUISE THIS is not a national crisis. Taylor Swift? Who? In my opinion, Kanye did her a favor. He put her name in my head. Now she will be forever linked to a moment in Pop Culture History. Before this thing happened I would have gotten her confused with Carrie Underwood or the other 1 million Blonde country singers I could give two shits about. Listen, I am not knocking anyone's taste but country and western? That music is the music that HILLBILLYS and TRAILER PARK PEOPLE screw to, my ears don't want any part of that AT ALL. I don't give a damn about anyone who sings it. Not even Charlie Pride! Real Talk Kanye is necessary in this music game and before he is done he will be a music immortal. Taylor Swift is a chick that is five years away from a sex tape and reality show on THE FARM channel. HOLLER!

Random blogging! - Kanye West

Kanye did his thing on VH1. He kind of came out the closet but whatever he still is a great artist. He is shaping up to be the most transcendent Hip Hop artist ever. Possibly the only Hip Hop artist that takes chances in the industry. 50 and Jay could not do what he does. He is poised to become the Michael Jackson of Hip - Hop.
