Question of the Day (12-Sep) Wknd Edition

Hey peeps,

It's been a while. I know....

I went to AJWright today (if you know anything about it, it's like Marshall's and Tj Maxx) and I've noticed something.

Is this the discount clothing store for Black people and Latinos?

Question of the Day (9-Jul)

First let me say people: Rest in Peace to those that have recently passed away. Respect due to their legacy.

I'm sorry I've been out the loop for so long, I'll try to do better.

But I gotta ask,

Considering the circumstances with (my man) Steve McNair, was he a DUMB cheater?

Question of the Day (15-Apr)

There was a question that came up with me and the fellas that spawned into an on going dispute in sports.....

Given the successful Dynasties we've had in basketball, the superstars we rallied around (some of which didn't win rings with their team), and "The Great One" Michael Jordan, do you think that Michael Jordan could have won at least one Championship without Scottie Pippen?

Question of the Day (13-Apr)

I don't know about ya'll, but I used to love me some Cindy from En Vogue and I was super hot when I first saw Juice and she was in the movie kickin' it with Omar Epps. But now it's years later and I saw her on the Trumpet awards and she was lookin' nice.........REAL NICE!!!

So, then I got to thinking:

Destiny's Child

or

En Vogue

Question of the Day (18-Mar)

People,

Somebody tell me, why do people get all self-righteous after they have just done some of the most incriminating and/or freaky deeds?

This troubles me.

Somebody get back to me on that........

Question of the Day (10-Mar)

Peeps,

Sorry I've been off the scene so long. Too much Bullshittin'.

But, digg this. We all know a sellout when we see one or hear one. But, us Black folks in America are very familiar with the term Uncle Tom...............

Most of us assume it comes from the title of the book "Uncle Tom's Cabin" and also assume that the brotha in the story was a sell out. But, how many of us actually know the origins of this term? How any of us actually read that story? Surprisingly, I never even knew that Harriet Beecher Stowe's novel was based on the life of a real dude. From what I read, the character Uncle Tom actually was not a sell out at all, but more of a martyr or hero; sacrificing his freedom and happiness for his family mostly. Even in the movie with Avery Brooks, it was much of the same heroic acts.

So, how did Uncle Tom turn into a sellout?

Somebody get back at me on this........

Question of the Day (18-Feb)

OK people,

In honor of our people this month and year round, our glory throughout the annals of history and the evidence of our achievements; those silent and those not so silent. Let us recognize Madame CJ Walker and her legacy left to us becoming a wealthy multi-millionaire/entrepreneur from Black hair care and hair care products. And more importantly how all of her achievements have impacted the world through us.

Those things being said, study the picture(s) and think about all the times in recent years/months/weeks/days you've been to the beauty shop, barber shop, nail shop, etc. , and more interestingly, all the stores that we consume our hair care products from.

Where are all the Black Owned Beauty Supply Stores? Why are they so difficult to find when we are the originators of the products, its greatest consumers, and they are made for us?

Question of the Day (12-Feb)

Digg,

Former GM of the L.A. Clippers and Hall of Famer from the Lakers, Elgin Baylor, sues the Clippers for discrimination. The brotha thought he was gettin' the shaft all these years.

Question of the Day (10-Feb)

Ok, check this..........

I was checking out yet another Peanuts episode. Now, although Snoopy was my favorite character, he always seemed to get all the 'Juice'........wit' his cool azz. And they always seemed to have some cool ass Jazz playing along too.

But why is it that Charlie Brown could get no love? And Lucy was always handin' it to him.

They shoulda made a "That'z f*cked up Charlie Brown!"

Somebody get back at me........

Question of the Day (5-Feb)

Peeps,

Some body tell me.......... when you're in the groove of things, then all of a sudden the bed breaks, what does that mean? Has this happened to anyone else besides me?

Get back at me.

Question of the Day (4-Feb)

I need to know............... why people tell bold faced lies, when the truth will do?

Question of the Day (3-Feb)

Aight folks,

I've been doing some reminiscing. And with Roc's help bringing back these old cartoons and TV shows, he's triggered some old memories of one of my favorite and most incredible, useful toys as a youth.

Maaaan, do any of you remember this advanced version of a Big Wheel? The Green Machine? Was I one the only few that owned one?

Ya'll get back at me on this......

Question of the Day (2-Feb)

Peeps,

What is the strangest food combination that you've heard of or experienced? Being from Chicago, some people outside of the Midwest and/or Mississippi or Tennessee find that one of my favorite Friday nite dishes is fish, spaghetti, and cole slaw.

And I've found some unusual ones myself. For instance: anyone familiar with McDonald's french fries being dipped in their strawberry ice cream sundaes and eaten?

Get back to me....

Question of the Day (29-Jan)

People, I been slippin' in a major way. MIA.... Absentee.....Bullshittin'! In all, I apologize for the absence.
A few things have occurred in the last few days/weeks and we now have a new President named Barack Obama. Now mind you, I've never been into politics like that b/c I feel like most politicians are only in it for personal gain. However, President Obama has so far seemed to be a stand up guy for the people.
Nonetheless, although a brotha, his heritage is much different than most of ours. Even for those of us with mixed heritage. His father a Black man from Kenya; his mother a white woman from Kansas, MO.
What puzzles me however, is the comment(s) made by my dude Aaron McGruder the creator of the Boondocks; one of my favorite comic strips and TV shows. Now, he normally brings interesting commentary and realism to current events and our history as it applies the characters, their struggles, and our life as Black people here in America. In essence he seems quite knowledgeable about they ways of the world, especially with a character such as Huey Freeman....and particularly since I use Huey as my icon on Google.
So my question is.............How the f**k Aaron McGruder gone say that Pres. Obama ain't Black? Somebody get back at me about that.

Question of the Day (6-Jan)

Ok folks,

Why are they fuckin wit' us on these gas prices? Here in the ATL, just $1.49 yesterday and now it's $1.65? WTF?!?!?!?

Question of the Day (5-Jan)

What's up people?

Hope you've all welcomed the new year with positivity. Don't wanna take too much from the Hubies, but digg.....
I happened to be checking out that show Extreme Makeover Home Edition, right. And I got to thinking. All over the country, they are throwing up buildings, apartments, and homes like it's nothing. And it's all done in a very short period of time. Now, I've never built a house, but I've helped rebuild one. I'm not an architect or a mason, but I do know the materials used today are sub-par to those from years ago. (Just like cars with fiberglass vs. metal). And from what I've seen over the last few years, structures today are not nearly as sturdy as they were just 30+ years ago or more. And I know that on this show they have a team full of people put together to build a home, but how do you build a house in a week?

I'm just saying. I've seen homes built less than five years ago and now they are falling apart and/or termite ridden. What's up with that?

Question of the Day (23-Dec)

Aight,

Digg this.........I had a convo with a friend of mine and this idea came up. With sensitivity, fragile personalities, and sparing another's feelings in relationships: Is there a thin line between integrity and being truthful? Why can't you just tell the truth?

12/22/08

Question of the Day (22-Dec)

People,

Ok, check it. With the shine now on Barack and Michelle, I know its good to see a successful Black family unit. We do need that kind of inspiration these days, especially with so many failed relationships. But for those we see in the spotlight, like the Obama's, the Smith's, etc. .......do we covet too many relationships?

I mean, we don't know their struggles behind the scenes. We don't know what kind of strain there is in their relationships.

Question of the Day (20-Dec)

Ok, people....

I'm sorry I was away for a while since my system crashed. But I'm back in business and since we're at the end of the week, I gotta out something out there.

One of my peeps put me on to the a youtube video of Jamie Foxx clowning Terence Howard. He really didn't put him on blast like he could have, but I gotta say somethin'.

I like both these dudes and have reservations about their talents. Jamie Foxx is a clown and great imitator/talented actor and musician/singer, but his work as a musician hasn't really shown his creativity (to me). He went mainstream with the music. And although, Terence Howard is talented also as an actor and musician, he's not a singer. He probably should have let someone else do the singing while he plays guitar and writes the songs.

Of course, Jamie's popularity captured a lot of the ladies attention which lead to the overwehlming 2x platinum sell out. Terence didn't quite have that acclaim until his Osacar nod, but he also seems to play the same kind of character in every movie and that kinda disappoints me cuz I need him to step his game up. But, whatever comments he made about Jaime Foxx on CNN, he might should have saved for a more personal note direct to Jamie or just not said anything at all, because now the door is open for ridicule........ How you gone clown a comic?

........but was he wrong?

Here's Jamie's interview on Big Boy's show in L.A.:
